Alex Stone by Kevin and Alex

“I’m going to find something useful to do, Hobo Joe!” shouted Alex as he left the alley.  As he walked, Alex thought of ways he could make money. He could go to the junkyard and search for scraps of metal that might have some monetary value, or he could try to craft something.  “Yes, that’s what I’ll do. I’ll go to the junkyard.” thought Alex. When he arrived at the junkyard, something shiny caught his attention, and he walked over to it. It was a glowing stone.  “Huh,” thought Alex. “I wonder what this is.” He picked it up. “Aaah!” screamed Alex, as the stone shone even brighter. He wanted to put it down, but his hands were frozen in place. The stone got brighter and brighter.  Eventually it got so bright that it exploded, and Alex blacked out.

“Where am I?” wondered Alex when he woke up. “What happened to the stone?” Alex suddenly realized that he was tied up. “Somebody help!” shouted Alex.

“There’s no point in shouting.” said a tough voice next to him, startling him.  “It’s nighttime, and nobody will hear you. Now, give me all your money and you won’t get hurt.” Alex turned as best he could to face the speaker. The person talking was a big, muscular person with lots of scars on his face.

“I d-don’t have any m-money,” stammered Alex.

“Then I guess you’ll get hurt,” replied the gangster.  Alex covered his face, bracing himself for the pain, but instead of feeling fists slamming him, he heard the gangster scream “OH MY GOD, WHAT THE HECK JUST HAPPENED?! MOMMY! MOMMY! HELP!” Alex peeked through his fingers, expecting that the gangster was tricking him and nothing was happening, but instead of the gangster in front of him, there was a sixty-foot wall of rock.  Alex looked up and saw the gangster at the top, wobbling and barely managing to stay on. Alex started gnawing through the ropes, and when he was finished, he didn’t hesitate one moment and ran away as fast as he could.

The next day, Hobo Joe was wondering where Alex had gone and then, as if thinking about him had conjured him, Alex was suddenly running around the corner and into the alley.  “HOBO JOE! THANK GOD GANGSTER SCARY WANTED BEAT ME UP I CREATED ENORMOUS ROCK WALL RAN AWAY FAST AS I COULD!!!!!!!!” yelled Alex. “Whoa, hold on a second, buddy,” said Hobo Joe, “Did you say you created a giant rock wall?”

“YES I DID SOMEHOW!” replied Alex.

“No way,” said Hobo Joe, “You have to show me.”

“Okay,” said Alex. He raised his hands up and covered his face, and Hobo Joe’s jaw dropped as a pillar of rock rose out of the ground.

“Can you control the ground or something?” asked Hobo Joe.

“I don’t know,” replied Alex, “I’ll try to create a sculpture of you.” Alex once again raised his hands, but this time he stared straight at Hobo Joe. A perfect likelihood of Hobo Joe rose out of the ground.

“How did you do that?” asked Hobo Joe. “I have no idea,” replied Alex.

Suddenly, a lightning bolt hit Hobo Joe’s McDonald’s Happy Meal. “Hey! That was my lunch! Curse you, stupid lightning!”  shouted Hobo Joe.

“Curse me? That’s not very nice.” said a deep voice in the sky. Alex looked up, and there was a man wearing
a blue and black suit with a lightning bolt on it and a white cape with a blue X on it. He was flying, and slowly losing altitude. He landed and introduced himself as Steven Bolt, a superhero who graduated from the Superpower Training Academy with a Ph. D(Permanent Hero Diagnosis) in lightning. He said that he had seen Alex using his rock powers and asked him,”How would you like to go to Superpower Training Academy?”
