FLASH FICTION CONTEST! #8

The alley of shadows closes on me. The dark loneliness haunts me.
Yearning for the past it does nothing. Walking into the shadowy past of me.
Yearning for light it does nothing. Walking off the narrow correct path.
All this walking was done for a long time. I would get lost then got unlost again and again.
All of a sudden the light comes blasting in.
I walk freely for I do not fear of getting lost again as I walk in newness of life.

FLASH FICTION CONTEST! #7

The year of the Apollo Moon landing, everyone was celebrating everyone except me. You know where I was stuck. Work. I was only 15 at the time and working at an ice cream shop.

All day long people were asking for the Moon deluxe for FREE.

"No I will not give you it free"

After work, I went home to my house being empty .I went downstairs to my moonlit room, thinking I might talk to a man on the moon. He always listens and never says anything back. My thoughts, fears, my sadness and he listens to everything.

Today, I think he listened very hard to me. For the first time today, I really believed in the man on the moon.

FLASH FICTION CONTEST! #4

“How would you like to go to Superpower Training Academy?” asked Steven. “Hmm,”

Alex replied, “Does Hobo Joe get to come with me?”

“Of course!” Steven said, “They have lots of extra room on the campus.”

“Then I’ll go,” said Alex. So Steven picked them both up and took off for the Academy. On the way, he bought Hobo Joe a new Happy Meal from the McDonald’s next to the Academy. Then they landed at the boundary of the Academy.

“Huh?” said Alex, “I don’t see anything.”

“Wait a second,” said Steven. Steven shouted “I give permission for Alex Stone and Hobo Joe to enter!” Suddenly, the campus of Superpower Training Academy appeared in front of them.

“Whoaaa!” said Alex, “This place is so cool!” They went inside a building that said HEADMASTER’S OFFICE, where they were met by an old superhero named Thomas Marine who had a bubble of water covering his head like an astronaut helmet.

“Hello, I’m Thomas Marine,” he said, “I hear Steven took a special interest in your powers.”

“Yes, sir,” replied Steven, “I bet he has stronger powers than most of our rock majors. He lifted a sixty-foot wall out of the ground with no effort at all.”

“Wow, I’m impressed,” said Thomas, “Not many people could do that at your age.”

“Thank you, sir,” Alex replied timidly.

“Now, how would you like to show me your powers?” asked Thomas.

“Sure,” replied Alex. Alex once again raised his hands, this time focusing on Thomas’s face, and an exact replica of Thomas came out of the ground, made out of rock.

“Pretty soon, you could be as powerful as me!” said Steven, throwing a lightning bolt at a weird cross between a bat and a crocodile flying in the sky. The lightning struck the monster, and then it turned black and its ashes fell from the sky and landed on Hobo Joe’s unfinished McDonald’s Happy Meal.

“Nooooooo!” wailed Hobo Joe, “How can it be that I have such bad luck when it comes to lightning and McDonald’s Happy Meals!” Hobo Joe got so mad he grew to ten times his own size, and he roared in rage, “BUY ME A NEW MCDONALD’S HAPPY MEAL!” and he started chasing after Steven Bolt. He raised his fist, which started glowing and then he smashed the ground right where Steven Bolt had been two seconds earlier. The impact was so great that everyone except Hobo Joe went flying, including those that hadn’t begun their flying training yet.

“What the-” Steven didn’t even get to finish his sentence before another punch sent him flying through the wall of the McDonald’s next to the Academy. He quickly bought a McDonald’s Happy Meal and flew back to the Academy, where students were getting whole weeks of flying training fit into fifteen minutes. He quickly flew up to Hobo Joe and shouted, “Here’s your Happy Meal!” Hobo Joe shrank back to normal size and grudgingly took the Happy Meal and finished it quickly in a guarded manner. They then took Hobo Joe into a room where they would be alone. Then Steven and Thomas asked him if there was any unusual event that may have caused his ability to grow so big. Hobo Joe answered,

“Well, once I…”

FLASH FICTION CONTEST #2

Dalia sprinted through the forest, the wild dog close behind. Her shoulder throbbed with a bloody bite. Cursing, she ran faster, crashing through the trees and underbrush. Sweat dripped down her forehead, but the fierce bark of the dog kept her going. Fear was what drove her forward.

Finally, she stumbled out of the woods, stopping abruptly at a rocky cliff. Behind her, the dog was just yards away. Fog concealed whatever laid beneath the ledge. Standing at the crossroads between pain and the unknown, Dalia jumped.

FLASH FICTION CONTEST #1

The girl ran through the woods, her boots hitting the mushy ground. She found a just sitting on the forest floor, and decided to take it home. As she watched it on the way home, it seemed to grow in size, and when she got home, it was really big and really heavy, too. She dropped it onto the ground, and it grew at a rapid rate, expanding larger and larger until it became a full-size dragon. It stomped the ground and roared, shooting fire into the sky! Then it bowed low to her, almost telepathically saying Thank you, my Queen.
